In 1980 the developer of the PineWild Condominium Community, Holland Pacific Hitch Company, dba: PineWild Properties, secured the required permits to build a pier, install a 42 unit Buoy Field and a Swim Line in Lake Tahoe. The Army Corp. of Engineers, Douglas County Department of Building and Safety, the State of Nevada Division of State Land, Tahoe Regional Planning Agency and the U.S. Coast Guard granted permits.
The State of Nevada Division of State Lands issues to the PineWild Homeowners Association, an annual Buoy Field Permit. This fee is prorated among the Buoy Owners.
The Tahoe Regional Planning Agency requires the buoys to be installed no earlier than May 1st and to be removed by October 15th, each year. Each Buoy Owner shares equally in the costs of administration, annual inspection and the costs of installing, storing and removing the Buoys.
The placement of the Buoys in the Buoy Field was determined by the Tahoe Regional Planning Agency and only an Act of God can change the field regardless of the depth of the Lake.
The Buoys were sold to PineWild Residents and are considered to be personal property that consists of an anchor block, a tethering chain and a floating buoy. The buoys are seeded in permitted locations. Each buoy carries a number that is registered with the PineWild Homeowners Association that serves as the manager of the Buoy Field.
